ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico baseball team, in conjunction with LoboTV, Learfield Sports and uPUBLIC tv, are pleased to announce that 15 home games this season will be broadcast live by uPUBLIC and aired on My50 (Comcast channel 26 and Cable ONE channel 15) in Albuquerque. Additionally, the Lobos will partner with ESPN Radio 101.7 The TEAM for the sixth consecutive year to broadcast a minimum of 35 games this season.

I want people in Lovington, Bloomfield, Lordsburg and Raton to be excited about Lobo Baseball because if people are fired up there, they’re fired up everywhere.”

All 29 home games by the Lobos will be streamed live on The Mountain West Network, but LoboTV producer Kasey Byers wanted to expand the coverage of baseball.

“We are happy to announce this deal with uPUBLIC TV,” he said. “Lobo Baseball will have 15 games live in HD on uPUBLIC in the Albuquerque metro area. This is just the next step in the increasing exposure for Coach Birmingham and his program. Also new this year, LoboTV will produce weekly highlight reels documenting all home Lobo Baseball games. That being said, LoboTV will continue its dedication to broadcasting all 29 home games live on The Mountain West Network.”

The television broadcast schedule includes UNM’s first seven home games, beginning with its contest against San Francisco in the Lobo Invite on Friday, Feb. 27, and continuing through the rest of that tournament and through the Lobos’ home series against San Diego State the following weekend. uPUBLIC will then broadcast UNM’s game with Rio Grande Rival New Mexico State on April 21. The Lobos’ final seven home games, series against Nevada and San Jose State as well as a Tuesday night game versus Arizona State, are the remaining games scheduled to be televised.

These will be UNM’s first games aired on local television since April 10, 2012, when CBS Sportsnetwork aired the Lobos’ game against Arizona State to a national audience.

uPUBLIC will use the radio feed from The TEAM for its broadcasts. The TEAM will broadcast 26 of the Lobos’ 29 home games with a minimum of 35 games to be broadcast throughout the season.

The radio schedule begins with UNM’s home opener against San Francisco in the Lobo Invite on Friday, Feb. 27, and includes series against preseason No. 3 Houston and all five Mountain West foes that visit Lobo Field in 2015.

The TEAM will also broadcast UNM’s visits to Texas Tech on March 24 and New Mexico State on May 5, and additional road game broadcasts will be determined later in the season. Also to be included will be games at the Mountain West Tournament in Reno, Nev., May 20-24 and any potential NCAA Tournament games.

Fans will be able to listen on their radios, online at www.golobos.com or worldwide on the TuneIn radio app.

Robert Portnoy, the Voice of the Lobos, will handle the majority of the games in his third season of calling Lobo Baseball. However, veteran broadcasters Scott Galetti and Henry Tafoya will handle the duties on games Portnoy misses due to his responsibilities with the Lobo men’s basketball team.
