Zero-waste initiative will engage fans with trivia, prizes and more during select games

BOULDER, CO and WYANDOTTE, MI – BASF is continuing to promote zero-waste and sustainable living practices, by announcing that it is partnering with the University of Colorado Boulder (CU- Boulder) to host a series of eight Sustainable Gamedays during select men’s and women’s home basketball games at the university’s Coors Events Center.

“Sustainable Gamedays at CU Boulder offers basketball fans an entertaining and interactive way to learn about new ways of thinking when it comes to sustainable living,” said Chris Bradlee, Biopolymers Market Development Manager, BASF. “The university shares BASF’s commitment to promoting zero-waste by collecting organic waste with compostable bags. We’re very proud to say this is happening not just on game day, but every day – both on campus as well as in the community. ”

The BASF partnership was secured and is managed by the University’s athletic multimedia rights holder, Learfield Sports’ Buffalo Sports Properties. CU Boulder has a progressive recycling and composting program, and is one of the leading universities in the country when it comes to zero waste. Certified compostable bags made with ecovio® by BASF play an important role in the university’s success by making collection of food waste cleaner, safer and easier.

“With innovative programs like Sustainable Gamedays, together, BASF and CU Boulder are transforming zero waste at college campuses,” says David Newport, Director of the CU Boulder Environmental Center.

During the select games, videos featuring facts about sustainability and organics recycling will air on video screens at the Coors Events Center. Fans will also get the opportunity to participate in an interactive trivia game to win prizes.
