Bronco women’s basketball returns to KTIK Radio AM 1350 for 2013-14
BOISE, Idaho – Bronco Sports Properties has announced the hiring of Chris Lewis as the new voice of the Boise State women’s basketball program. Prior to joining the Bronco family Lewis spent this past summer as the radio play-by-play announcer and media relations director for the Idaho Falls Chukars Baseball Club in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Lewis will begin his play-by-play responsibilities for the women’s basketball team next Monday night when the Broncos host the Southern Oregon Raiders in an exhibition contest in Taco Bell Arena.
“I’m excited to get to work, telling the great stories involving coach Presnell and the team,” said Lewis. “I hope to continue the great work that Chris King had done the last two years.”
Lewis came to Idaho from Syracuse, N.Y., where he was a spring 2013 graduate of Syracuse University. While at Syracuse he had numerous experiences working in all aspects of radio from on-air talent, reporter, to show production.
During his time in Syracuse, Lewis worked for WJPZ radio (2010-13), where he did play-by-play for Syracuse University women’s basketball. In the 2012-13 season, he provided play-by-play of Boise State’s game against Syracuse on December 30. In addition to women’s basketball, Lewis also broadcast high school football and women’s lacrosse games at WJPZ, and became assistant sports director in 2012.
Lewis also worked for WAER Radio in Syracuse (2011-13) where he did play-by-play for Syracuse University football, men’s basketball and men’s lacrosse games. In addition, he served as a feature reporter, sports update anchor, as well as a studio host and producer for various pregame, halftime and postgame shows.
The Magnolia, N.J., native worked for ESPNU Campus Connection from 2012-13 where he was responsible for providing Syracuse University student content to ESPNU. Lewis also served as a liaison between the network and Syracuse student media.
Lewis’ other broadcast experience includes working for CitrusTV from 2009-13 where he was a sports anchor for a weekly SportsCenter-styled news show. In addition, he worked as an analyst, studio host and producer for the station’s Syracuse Pregame Show.
During summer of 2012 he served as on-air talent, producer and reporter for summer league basketball games in Las Vegas for Global Basketball Television. In addition, Lewis produced Big East basketball video recaps for the station during the 2012-13 college season.
As they were last year, all of Boise State’s women’s basketball games are a joint production between Bronco Sports Properties and Cumulus Radio. All 30 contests and any postseason games will be broadcast live on KTIK radio “The Ticket” (AM 1350) in Boise. The broadcasts can also be heard live for free over the internet at BroncoSports.com.
Bronco Sports Properties, the multimedia rights holder for Boise State Athletics and a property of Learfield Sports, oversees all aspects of the Bronco Sports Network as part of the rights relationship.
