Sooner and Cowboy Fans Vote Online for Favorite Play of the Game

Oklahoma City – Delta Dental of Oklahoma has entered into an agreement with Learfield Sports to sponsor the Teeth Rattling Hit of the Game at all home football games for the University of Oklahoma (OU) Oklahoma State University (OSU) during the 2009 season.

Learfield Sports, the multimedia rights holder for Oklahoma Athletics and Oklahoma State Athletics, manages rights for more than 50 collegiate institutions and associations. In addition to OU and OSU, other Big 12 member schools represented by Learfield Sports are Colorado, Iowa State, Kansas State, Missouri, Texas A&M and Texas Tech. Additionally, it titles the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup, oversees marketing partnerships for the Black Coaches & Administrators and provides exclusive sports programming to more than 1,000 radio stations nationwide.

The agreement gives football fans the opportunity to go online to SoonerSports.com or OKState.com to vote on their favorite Teeth Rattling Hit of the Game throughout the season after each game. The play with the most votes for the week will be shown during the next home game.

One fan from each school will be randomly selected from all those that have voted throughout the season to win $250.

“We are excited to work with both universities to highlight our schools who work hard to achieve their goals,” Ken McGuire, vice president of sales and marketing, said. “We understand Oklahomans value a good game, particularly high school and college football. But with physical contact sports like football, it is important to protect your teeth. We want to help people keep oral health in mind no matter what season it is. ”

For example, he said mouth guards are a simple and inexpensive way to protect an athlete’s mouth. An athlete is 60 times more likely to suffer harm to their teeth when not wearing a mouth guard, according to the American Dental Association.
