Clyde G. Lear, founder of Learfield Communications, Inc., is a journalist by training. He earned an MA degree in journalism from the University of Missouri in 1968 and an AB from Central Methodist College in Fayette, Mo. in 1966. Lear began his company in 1972 as an outgrowth of his master thesis. He has been honored for his professional and civic work. He is chairman of the Governor’s Student Leadership Forum on Faith and Values in Missouri and works with the National Student Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C. Lear was chairman of the governing board of Central Methodist College, a Distinguished Alumnus of the University of Missouri, and belongs to numerous professional organizations.
