South Carolina victorious in 11-Inning CWS title game
Congratulations to the South Carolina Gamecocks, our partner school and 2010 College World Series champions. They clinched the win last night in 11 innings, by beating UCLA 2-1 in the second of a three-game series for the championship. This marks the Gamecocks’ first baseball title in school history, and it earns them a place in history as the last CWS game ever played at legendary Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha. Mike Burnett new AE at Army Sports Properties
Rutgers grad Mike Burnett is a new Account Executive for our Army Sports Properties team. He most recently served nine months as the Sponsorship Sales Manager for the Somerset Patriots baseball team in Bridgewater, N.J. Before that, he served one year as an Account Executive with Comcast-Spectacor in Philadelphia and three years as the Corporate Sales & Broadcast Manager for the NBA’s New Jersey Nets.
Mike is recently married to Amy, and they live in Fort Lee, N.J.
Schloffman promoted to Senior Sales Analyst
Kristi Schloffman has been promoted to Senior Sales Analyst in Learfield Sports’ Plano, Texas headquarters. Kristi has been with the company seven years, serving as Sponsorship Coordinator at Tiger Sports Properties in Memphis before joining us as a Sales Analyst for the Atlantic region in 2006.
She now steps up to a larger role on the analyst team and will be responsible for all sales reporting, as well as overseeing duties with the Atlantic region and National sellers. Additionally, she will provide leadership for the Plano analyst team. Congratulations, Kristi.
Congratulations to winners of Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup
The recipients of the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup will be honored Wednesday, with Stanford heading a list of multiple repeat winners in all divisions. The awards, which annually recognize the best overall athletic department in each NCAA division and NAIA, will be presented at a luncheon at the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics convention in Anaheim, Calif.

Congratulations to the Clemson Tigers, Oklahoma Sooners and South Carolina Gamecocks for demonstrating collegiate baseball greatness and earning a trip to the 2010 Men’s College World Series in Omaha, Neb. Dan Ward suits up at Penn State Sports Properties
Penn State alum and long-time Nittany Lions’ football fan Dan Ward joins Penn State Sports Properties as the Marketing & Sales Coordinator in our University Park office. Dan comes to PSSP from the NBA’s 76ers, where he was an Inside Sales Representative and before that, Forever Broadcasting, Inc., where he was an Account Executive at ESPN Radio 1450. Fortunately Dan already has inside experience with Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics, having spent one year as Marketing Intern for the Athletic Dept. and one year as Assistant Marketing Coordinator for Penn State Basketball.

Team Services lands a big one
The new arena scheduled to open this fall in downtown Louisville will be called the KFC Yum! Center. It’s the culmination of a $13.5 million, 10 year agreement is between Yum! Brands, Inc. and Team Services, LLC, Learfield’s naming rights agency that was retained by the Louisville Arena Authority.
The KFC Yum! Center will have seven different restaurant concession areas where guests can purchase KFC, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut products (depending on the event being held at the Center).
In addition to championship-caliber collegiate athletics, the KFC Yum! Center will play host a variety of top concerts and family events, effectively ushering in a new era of entertainment in the region.
To date, Team Services and LASEP (a Learfield Sport property) are responsible for generating a total of more than $37.5 million in arena sponsorships and naming rights.
Whoop! Aggie Alum Returns to College Station
Bobby Jordan is Texas A&M Sports Properties’ newest Account Executive. Since earning both his bachelor’s degree (’02) and master’s degree in Sports Management (’05) at A&M, Bobby has been gaining plenty of experience inside collegiate athletic departments. Most recently, he was with IMG College as an Account Executive for its Ohio State Sports Marketing group. He also served as an Account Manager for the Ohio State Radio Network/RadiOhio, Inc.
Before leaving Texas for Ohio, he was the Assistant Athletic Director for Development at Sam Houston State Athletic Department in Huntsville, and the Assistant Director of Marketing for Baylor University in Waco. Bobby also has experience working inside Texas A&M Athletics as he served as Sales Assistant/Athletic Assistant for Events & Special Projects between degrees.
