CHENEY, Wash. – Eastern football fans in Walla Walla can catch all of the Eagles’ games this season on KTEL 1490 AM and 99.7 FM ESPN Walla Walla as announced today by Eastern Washington University Athletics and its multimedia rightsholder, Learfield’s Eagles Sports Properties.

The extended coverage with Elkhorn Media Group-owned KTEL into the Walla Walla listening audience marks the Eagles’ first affiliate outside of its flagship relationships with 700 AM ESPN and 105.3 FM in Spokane. The Walla Walla addition will complement the Spokane broadcasts, and fans also can follow games online or listen via the free TuneIn app to hear the familiar voice of veteran broadcaster Larry Weir.

“We’re excited to have KTEL join our radio network and appreciate the great work by our partners at Learfield as they continue to find ways to spread the red around the State of Washington and grow the Eagles Sports Network,” said EWU Director of Athletics Bill Chaves.

“The Elkhorn Media Group and its station KTEL in Walla Walla, Washington are excited to be associated with and air Eastern Washington University Football. The Eagles are a perennial Big Sky and national power and it’s exciting to be part of this tremendous brand,” said Elkhorn Media Group President and Owner Randy McKone.

“Launching this new affiliate is a great step forward for our partners and our property. We’re proud to grow our network and are thankful for Randy and his team’s support,” added Tim Shustoff, general manager for Learfield’s Eagles Properties which manages all EWU Athletics’ broadcast aspects as part of the overall rights agreement.

According to Operations Manager Jed Maynes, “We are so pumped up at Elkhorn Media Group to add Eastern Washington University to our line-up of programming on 1490 AM and 99.7 FM ESPN Walla Walla.
